What would concrete poetry be without the typewriter? Every poem is the fruit of many keystrokes, precisely placed.

On the occasion of this year's awarding of the Bernard Heidsieck Prize for Literature by the Centre Georges Pompidou in collaboration with the Archivio Conz, the International Literature Festival (ILB), and the House of Poetry, the Archivio Conz is organizing an exhibition on the typewriter and the martial traits and sounds of the rattling, clattering, and ringing production, the “discourse machine gun” (Friedrich A. Kittler), the fusion of “pen” and “sword” (Marshall McLuhan).

In addition to the large series of prepared typewriters by Jean-François Bory, typewriters by Eugen Gomringer, Gerhard Rühm, Henri Chopin, Allan Kaprow, Bernard Heidsieck, and many others will be shown, as works of concrete poetry by Henri Chopin, dactylopoetry, and typewriter prayers by Kinga Tóth.
