Alex Mlynárčik, (1934, Slovenia) is a Slovak artist known for his experimental and conceptual approach to art-making. His creative practice often crosses traditional boundaries, using elements from daily life and collective experiences to shape his work. Mlynárčik has been a notable figure in action and performance art, particularly during the latter half of the 20th century. A landmark moment in his career came in 1971, when he organized an experimental art event titled If All the Trains in the World in the Slovak village of Zakamenné. One of the standout works from this gathering was Man with Balloon, which exemplified his interest in art that involves public interaction and challenges conventional exhibition formats. His work is represented in important collections, including the Archivio Conz, which is dedicated to preserving and showcasing artists associated with avant-garde and Fluxus movements.
